OVERVIEW
Learn practical AI tools for directors — sharper board papers, better scenario planning, stronger risk identification.

Part of the AI Sprint: six weeks of events across Guernsey, 1 October to 12 November 2026.

What this session is

The flagship closing session of IoD Guernsey's three-part series, "Better Directors in an Age of AI" — building toward the IoD Economic Growth Conference on 18 November. This session shifts focus from the organisation to the individual: how directors themselves can use AI to improve their own effectiveness as leaders and decision-makers. It covers practical tools for reviewing board papers, scenario planning, risk identification and responsible AI use — targeting a gap most boards haven't yet addressed: not whether the organisation uses AI, but whether the board does.

Panelists

  • Rob Winter — Head of Risk & Compliance, Guernsey Electricity
  • Pete Levy — Chief Technology Officer, Healthspan
  • more panelists to be announced soon...

Who it's for

Board members and emerging leaders wanting to modernise their own governance practice, not just their organisation's.

You'll leave with

  • Actionable strategies to boost board productivity using AI
  • Practical tools for analysing board papers and running scenario planning
  • Confidence to lead by example on responsible AI use at board level

About the host

IoD Guernsey is the local branch of the Institute of Directors, the UK's largest membership organisation for business leaders. With over 700 members on the island, it supports and develops directors through professional development, networking events and advocacy on the issues that matter to Guernsey business.

About the AI Sprint

The Guernsey AI Sprint is an island-wide programme, led by the G8, bringing together businesses, organisations, and individuals to explore, learn, and act on artificial intelligence. From October 1st to November 12th, we'll run workshops, talks, hackathons, and hands-on challenges designed to move Guernsey from AI curiosity to AI confidence.

Whatever your starting point, there is something on the programme for you.
